Portugal’s industrial production growth slowed to 2.0% year-on-year in September 2025, down from a revised 3.0% in August. Production of capital goods decelerated sharply to 0.1% from 7.1%, while energy output edged down slightly to 15.3% from 15.5%. Consumer goods production continued to contract, falling 3.5% compared with a 2.9% decline in August. In contrast, intermediate goods output picked up, rising 2.9% after a 0.9% gain in the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 0.6% in September, following a 1.1% rise in August.

Portugal Industrial Production Growth Moderates in September

The Indian central government recorded a budget deficit of INR 5.73 trillion in the first half of the 2026 fiscal year, widening from INR 4.75 trillion in the corresponding period of the previous year, despite bringing the deficit down from the INR 5.98 trillion from the first five months. The funding gap corresponded to 37% of annual estimates in the latest budget, improving from the 40% in the previous month, as businesses adapted to the first period of aggressive tariffs by the United States. Total government expenditure was 9.1% higher from the previous year at INR 23 trillion, while total receipts rose by 5.7% to INR 17.3 trillion.

Germany's DAX stayed in negative territory on Friday, trading 0.4% lower at just below 24,030, mirroring a general cautious sentiment. Traders assessed a fresh batch of mixed corporate reports from European companies while also weighing recent central bank decisions and developments on trade. On the data front, preliminary figures showed Eurozone inflation eased to 2.1% in October 2025, down from 2.2% in September and moving closer to the ECB’s 2% target. Meanwhile, Germany's retail sales rose 0.2% month-over-month in September, marking the first increase since June, in line with analysts' estimates.

DAX Remains in the Red, Still Poised for Monthly Gain

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey rose by 0.5% year-on-year to 6.09 million in September 2025, following a 2.1% increase in the previous month. Among the top five source countries, arrivals grew from Russia (+5.2%), Germany (+5.8%), and Poland (+0.8%), but fell from the UK (-6.5%) and Iran (-10.7%). By destination, Antalya remained the most popular, accounting for 37.3% of all foreign visitors, followed by Istanbul (29.4%) and Mugla (9.2%). For the January–September period, total foreign arrivals decreased by 0.7% from a year earlier to 41.57 million.
